Description

The Lezyne Matrix Air Cage is a side-loading bottle cage with a secret: a built-in holder that hides an Apple AirTag between the cage and your frame, out of sight. From a metre away it looks like any other black bottle cage, which is the whole point. If the bike goes missing from outside the cafe or the garage, the AirTag inside lets Apple's Find My app help you track it down.

What it fits

The cage bolts to the bottle-cage mounts on your frame and holds a bike bottle loaded from either the left or the right, which makes life easier on small frames, full-suspension bikes and e-bikes where a bottle cannot come straight up. The holder is sized for an Apple AirTag and has been verified to work with Apple's ultra-wideband signal. The AirTag itself is not included.

How it attaches

Instead of ordinary bolts, the Matrix Air Cage comes with a pair of stainless steel TR25 security bolts and the tool bit to fit them. A thief with a standard Allen key cannot simply unbolt the cage and pull the tag out.

Weight and material

The cage is made from Lezyne's Composite Matrix and weighs 44 g without the AirTag. It measures 150 x 82.5 x 90.6 mm, and the AirTag holder carries an IPX7 waterproof rating to keep the tag dry through wash-downs and wet rides in the Gold Coast summer storms.

Looking after it

Keep the TR25 bit somewhere you will find it, such as in your saddle bag or toolbox, since you will need it to get the cage off again, and swap the AirTag battery when your phone says it is running low.
