Ladies Merino 230 Wool 3/4 Length Thermal Pants

XTM Performance ladies' 3/4 length thermal pants in 100% fine Australian merino wool, knitted at 230 gsm from 20.5 micron fibre. Slim fit, flatlock seams, UPF 50+, in women's sizes 8 to 18. The leg finishes below the knee and above the ankle, the cut skiers and boarders go looking for: warm hips, thighs and knees, and only your sock inside the boot.

Who it's for

Women who spend winter in a tall boot. Pull a full-length thermal on under ski pants and the cuff ends up folded beneath the boot tongue, pressing a crease into your shin by lunchtime at Perisher. These stop well clear of the boot cuff, so the sock sits flat and the merino looks after everything above it.

The same pair earns its keep away from the lifts. Merino regulates body temperature and is naturally odour resistant, so they work under walking trousers on a frosty start at Cradle Mountain, under rain pants on a wet Tasmanian track, or as sleepwear in a cold hut.

Fit and layering

Slim fit, shaped to sit close to the body, so ski pants and shell trousers slide over the top without bunching. The inleg is 49 cm on a size 10. A soft jacquard waistband lies flat under a pack hip belt or a bib, and flatlock seams keep chafing down through a long day of turns.

Fabric and construction

The fabric is an interlock knit of 100% fine Australian merino at 230 gsm, spun from 20.5 micron fibre. Fibre that fine is why these feel soft next to skin with no itch. The pants are UPF 50+, Woolmark certified, OEKO-TEX Standard 100 certified and a certified carbon neutral product.

Packability and weight

Average weight is 157 g a pair. They roll down to almost nothing in a boot bag or the lid of a pack, so there is always room for a dry base layer on day two.

Care

Wash cold on a gentle cycle and air dry in the shade. Between washes, hang them up overnight and they are ready to go again, which suits a week at the snow or a multi-day walk.
