Description
The Orca Killa 180º Swimming Goggles are the pair you can train in on Tuesday and race in on Sunday. They come from a triathlon brand, with a soft 3D gasket, a silicone strap you can adjust in seconds and an anti-fog coating on the lens. Pick from mirror, smoke and clear lenses to suit where and when you swim.
Fit and seal
The gasket is moulded in three dimensions to follow the shape of your eye socket, so it seals with light, even contact. You get a watertight fit without cranking the strap down, and without deep rings around your eyes after a long set.
The silicone strap splits in two at the back of your head, which spreads the hold and keeps the goggles steady when you push off the wall or sight over chop. A clip buckle at each temple lets you tighten or loosen the strap quickly, even with cold fingers on the start line.
To check the fit, press the goggles onto your eyes without the strap. If they hold for a moment by suction alone, the seal is right for your face.
Lens and vision
Match the lens to your light:
- Mirror (black, green or orange frame): for bright sun and glare off the water, the pick for a midday ocean swim or an east-facing race start.
- Blue lens, white frame: a tinted lens for sunny outdoor swimming.
- Smoke, black frame: a darker tint for mixed conditions, outdoors or under bright pool lights.
- Clear, black frame: for dawn and dusk swims, overcast days and indoor pools.
Plenty of our swimmers keep two pairs in the bag, a mirror and a clear, and choose on the morning.
Fogging
The inside of each lens carries Orca's long-lasting anti-fog coating, so your view stays clear from the first lap to the last buoy. Look after the coating and it looks after you: keep your fingers off the inside of the lens and never wipe it with a towel.
Looking after it
Rinse the goggles in fresh water after every swim, salt or chlorine, and let them dry in the shade before you put them away. Store them where the lenses will not be scratched by keys or sand in the bottom of your swim bag.
