Kakadu II Mens Premium Rain Jacket

XTM Kakadu II Mens Premium Rain Jacket is a men's 3-layer rain shell for proper wet days, on the trail and around town. The shell is 100% recycled polyester with a PFAS-free DWR finish and XTM's HydroVENT15+ technology, rated 15,000mm waterproof and 10,000g/m2 breathable, and every seam is sealed. Pit zips, a storm flap, Velcro cuffs and two side pockets round it out. Black, Khaki Green or Navy, sizes S to 4XL.

Who it's for

Men who want a rain jacket they can trust when the sky really opens: a wet day walking the Great Ocean Walk, a Tasmanian summer that turns to sleet on the tops, an afternoon storm rolling over the Gold Coast hinterland, or the daily walk to work through a Melbourne winter. It is windproof as well as waterproof, so it doubles as the shell that keeps a cold southerly off you on a dry day.

Waterproofing and breathability

HydroVENT15+ is rated 15,000mm for waterproofing and 10,000g/m2 for breathability, and the jacket is fully seam sealed for serious waterproof performance. The PFAS-free DWR coating helps repel water droplets from the surface of the fabric. XTM rate it 3 of 4 for waterproofing and 3 of 4 for breathability on their own scale. When you are climbing hard and the inside starts to steam up, open the pit zips to dump heat without taking the jacket off.

Fit and layering

A regular fit: neither slim nor relaxed, with ease added for movement. The back length is 82 cm on a size M, worn here by a 182 cm model. Adjustable Velcro cuffs set the fit at the wrist, there is a storm flap and a YKK main zip, and the photos show a hood.

Care

Hand wash only, gently, with a mild detergent, and do up every zip and Velcro tab first. No machine washing, soaking, fabric softener or bleach. Line dry it in the shade, and keep it out of the dryer, away from the iron and away from the dry cleaner.
