Description
The Albek H2O Haul Eight is an 8 L hydration pack for long days on the mountain bike, the dirt bike or the gravel bike, with a 3.0 L Albek FFP bladder included. It weighs 600 g without the bladder, measures 45 x 38 x 12 cm, and is built from 240D polyester ripstop.
Who it's for
Riders who carry more than water: the trail rider heading out for a full day in the Gold Coast hinterland with tools, tube, pump and lunch, and the dirt bike rider who wants spares on their back for a multi-day trip. Eight litres is the size that takes a rain shell and a spare layer as well as the repair kit, without turning into a backpack that pulls you around in the corners.
Capacity and fit
Three litres of water in the bladder, and 8 L of storage around it:
- A divided main compartment with a sleeve that holds the bladder flat against your back
- A tool pocket organiser, so the multi-tool, tyre levers and plugs each have a slot
- A quick-access front pocket for the things you reach for at every stop
- A water-resistant internal stash pocket for your phone
- Hideaway cargo roll straps for a jacket or a rolled tube
Albek's X Brace harness crosses the straps over your chest and closes with a rotating Swivi-Lockster buckle, and the HiFlex four-point suspension lets the pack move with your shoulders instead of against them. Vented shoulder straps and the ErgoFlow airflow back panel keep some air between you and the load on a humid Queensland afternoon. There are LED light attachment points for riding out after dark, an emergency ID card slot inside, and a U-I.D. embroidery zone to make the pack yours.
Drinking and refilling
The Albek FFP 3.0 L bladder sits in its own sleeve inside the main compartment, with the tube routed over the shoulder strap. It opens along the top with a slide seal, so you can fill it from a tap or a creek without a funnel and turn it inside out to dry. Fill to the printed 3.0 L line and the pack still zips shut with the tools in place.
Cleaning and mould
Rinse the bladder after every ride and hang it open to dry; a wide slide-seal opening makes that easy. Store it in the fridge between trips if it is going to sit for a while, and wash the pack itself by hand.
