Description
Halfway up the climb, you bite down and get a trickle that tastes like an old garden hose. The USWE Hydraflex Drink Tube Kit is the fix: a fresh taste-free TPU hose and bite valve that clicks onto your USWE bladder in seconds.
What it is
A complete drinking end for a USWE hydration bladder: a red, 91.4 cm TPU hose with a high-flow bite valve on one end and a Plug-n-Play quick connector on the other. Swap out a chewed valve or a hose that has started to taste of plastic, and your bladder is back in service in the time it takes to click it in.
Who it's for
Anyone running a USWE pack or bladder with the Plug-n-Play coupling - the Elite, Shape-Shift and Compact Lumbar bladders. That covers the mountain bikers on Nerang and Mt Joyce singletrack, the trail runners out in the Gold Coast hinterland, gravel riders and the moto crowd. It is also the spare worth keeping in the shed, because a split hose the night before a race is a much smaller problem when the replacement is already on the bench.
Key details
- Length: 91.4 cm (36 in), enough to run from the pack over your shoulder strap
- Tube: taste-free TPU, BPA-free, so a hot day in the car park does not turn your water into something you would rather spit out
- Kink-resistant: keeps flowing when the hose gets bent around a strap or squashed into a full pack
- Bite valve: high flow for a quick drink between efforts, with a lock so it stays shut while the pack is in the boot
- Plug-n-Play connector: clicks into the bladder coupling and pops out again for cleaning or for moving the tube to another bladder
How it compares
Hydraflex is the standard USWE drink tube: clear red TPU, light and easy to see when it is clean. If you ride or run through Queensland summers and want the water to stay cooler for longer between sips, the USWE Hydrafusion Insulated Drink Tube Kit uses the same Plug-n-Play connection with foam insulation around the hose.
Looking after it
After each ride, unclip the hose at the connector, run warm water with a little mild soap through it, rinse and hang it up to dry with both ends open. A tube that dries out properly between uses stays fresh far longer than one left coiled up wet in the pack.
