Description
The Lezyne HP Drive Medium is a high-pressure hand pump in satin black. The barrel and piston are CNC-machined aluminium, the barrel anodised, and the handle is an overlapping Composite Matrix shell. At 240 mm and 90 g it is the longer of the two HP Drive sizes.
Who it's for
Road riders and gravel riders who want a pump on the bike for the flat that always comes at the far end of the loop. It is a roadside pump, made to ride on the frame in its included mount on every ride up Mount Nebo or along the Brisbane Valley Rail Trail until the day you need it. For a workshop, a floor pump is still the faster way to top up before you leave home.
Pressure and volume
The HP Drive is the high-pressure member of the Drive family, rated to 120 psi (8.3 bar). That headroom is what a narrow road tyre needs: a high-volume pump moves more air per stroke but runs out of push long before road pressures. The Medium is 45 mm longer than the 195 mm Small.
Valve compatibility
The ABS Flex Hose lives inside the handle and has a Presta end and a Schrader end. Unscrew it, thread the end that matches your valve onto the pump, thread the other onto the opened valve, and pump. On Presta, the ABS button lets the trapped hose pressure out so the chuck is easier to remove. On Schrader, the same button bleeds a little air from the tyre so you can set the pressure where you want it.
Looking after it
Screw the hose back into the handle after every use so grit stays off the threads, and wipe the barrel down after a wet or dusty ride before it goes back in the frame mount.
