Nemo Hornet OSMO Ultralight Backpacking Tent (1P, 2P, 3P)

Description
Description
The Nemo Hornet OSMO is a semi-freestanding three-season backpacking tent with a minimum weight from 822 g in the one-person version. It uses Nemo's OSMO fabric, which the brand states has three times less wet stretch than standard nylon, on a single-hub DAC Featherlite pole. The two- and three-person versions have two doors and two vestibules.
Who it's for
Walkers who want a genuinely light tent without going to a trekking-pole shelter. At 948 g minimum weight for the 2P, this is in the same weight class as many one-person tents, and it still gives two people their own door and vestibule.
Less suited to exposed alpine campsites and sustained high wind - it is a three-season tent with a minimal pole structure, and semi-freestanding means the foot end needs stakes to stand properly. On solid rock platforms or tent decks, that matters.
Key features
- OSMO fabric - Nemo's poly-nylon ripstop, which they rate at three times less wet stretch than standard nylon and with lifetime water repellency, so the fly does not sag as badly overnight in rain.
- Single-hub DAC Featherlite pole - one pole assembly, so pitching is quick and there is nothing to work out in the dark.
- Flybar pole clip on the 1P and 2P adds volume at the head end and spreads fly tension. The 3P does not use it.
- Two doors and two vestibules on the 2P and 3P, so nobody climbs over anybody at 2am.
- Divvy Cube stuff sack - rectangular rather than a tube, so it packs flat in the bottom of a pack and the load can be split between two people.
- Nightlight Pockets overhead use light-diffusing fabric, turning a headlamp into a room light.
- Gatekeeper door clips hold the door open and out of the way rather than leaving it flapping.
Choosing a size
The 1P has one door and one vestibule and 1.9 sq m of floor. The 2P steps up to 2.6 sq m with two doors, at 948 g minimum weight. The 3P is 3.7 sq m with 111 cm of peak height rather than 98 cm, which is the version where sitting up properly becomes comfortable. Weight per person drops as capacity rises, so a 2P shared between two walkers is lighter each than two 1P tents.
