Click and fix - that is the whole drill. The FX Lite mechanism unfolds the pole on its own, you close the Powerlock at your length, and you are walking. Four carbon sections fold to 41 cm, small enough to live inside a daypack until the ground gets steep.

Folding that adjusts

A folding pole normally means fixed length. The Vario Summit keeps a Powerlock 3.0 on the top section, so you get a 20 cm adjustment band and a 41 cm packed size in the same pole. That combination is the reason to buy this one.

Cork where your hand sits

The Trek Pro 245 grip is cork, with an extended grip zone running down the shaft. Cork stays cool and dry as the day heats up and moulds to your hand over the first few walks, and the extension means a steep pitch is handled by moving your hand, not by stopping.

Carbon through all four sections

18 and 16 mm carbon throughout, so the pole is stiff under load and quiet on rocky ground. The FX Lite mechanism runs on an internal cord that pulls the sections into a solid column.
