Description

Same self-unfolding carbon pole as the standard Vario Summit, set ten centimetres shorter through the band. If your walking length sits under about 122 cm, this is the version that fits you properly and weighs less doing it.

Pick the band, not the pole

The Compact and the standard Vario Summit are the same design, the same mechanism and the same grip. The only real question is where your walking length falls: under about 122 cm and the Compact is your pole; above it, take the standard.

Click and fix

The FX Lite mechanism pulls all four sections together on its own. You close one Powerlock 3.0 and start walking. Folding it away is just as quick, which is what makes a folding pole worth having on ground where the poles keep going on and off the pack.

Cork, and an extended grip zone

Trek Pro 245 cork sits cool and dry under the hand, and the grip zone runs down the shaft so a steep section is handled by dropping your hand rather than re-setting the clamp.
