Description

Fubuki make ultra-light, fully waterproof winter boots - a Swedish brand founded in 2019, mixing Scandinavian winter with Japanese design. The Niseko takes its shape from traditional northern Japanese fishing and road workers' boots. The Niseko 3.0 is the high-cut boot, with the shaft coming up the ankle for deeper snow.

Warmth and waterproofing

Rated to -30°C / -22°F under ISO 20877:2011 and fully waterproof. A strong EVA outer shell over a soft wool-blend lining, with an ABS toe cap, at 520 to 750 g a boot depending on size - warm and dry without the weight of a mountaineering boot. A two-layer removable insole comes with every pair.

Sizing

These come up large. Fubuki's own advice: if you are between two sizes, take the smaller of the two. Made in EU 35-46.

A note on the squeak

Boots built this way can squeak or creak a little in use. It is friction between the EVA shell and the ABS toe cap, it is normal.

What they are for

Snow, slush and cold rain - car parks and resort villages as much as the mountain.

FAQ's

Should I get the high or the Low?
The high cut brings the shaft up over the ankle, which keeps deep snow and slush out. The Low is the same boot at shoe height - easier on and off, less protection above the ankle.

Do these fit true to size?
They come up large. Fubuki's own advice is that if you are between two sizes, take the smaller of the two. Sizes run EU 35 to EU 46.

How warm are they?
Rated to -30°C / -22°F under ISO 20877:2011, on a wool-blend lining. That is a cold-weather boot rather than a mild-winter one.

Are they actually waterproof?
Yes - fully waterproof. The shell is moulded EVA rather than stitched fabric, so there are no seams through the foot to leak.

Why might they squeak?
Boots built this way can squeak or creak a little. It is friction between the EVA shell and the ABS toe cap, Fubuki say so themselves, and it is not a fault - it does not affect how the boot performs or how long it lasts.

What comes in the box?
The boots and a two-layer removable insole. The insole comes out if you wear your own orthotic.

Are they only for snow?
No. They are waterproof and warm rather than snow-specific, so they suit cold rain, slush and wet work as much as a ski trip.
