Description

Rivo is the easiest way into a proper smart trainer. It weighs 10 kg, the legs fold flat and the handle sits right where your hand goes, so it lives in the hall cupboard and comes out when the wet season or a dark winter evening keeps you off the road.

What it is

A direct-drive smart trainer with an electromagnetic brake. It estimates your power to ±2.5%, simulates gradients up to 18% and resists up to 2000 W at 40 km/h. It connects over Bluetooth (FTMS and Zwift's own protocol) and 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi, which also updates the firmware automatically, and it can pass your heart-rate strap and cadence sensor through to the app in one connection.

Who it's for

First-time smart-trainer owners, riders short on space, and anyone who wants Zwift, MyWhoosh, Rouvy or Kinomap without the weight of a flagship unit. Choose the Standard version if you already have a cassette to fit. Choose With Zwift Cog & Click if you mostly ride Zwift and want to skip the cassette altogether: the Cog comes fitted and the Click gives you 24 virtual gears from the bars.

How it compares

Rivo is the lightest and most compact of the Elite trainers we carry. Step up to the Avanti for measured power at ±1%, ANT+ for older head units and black Flex Feet; step up again to the Justo 2 or Direto XR for 24% climbs. If small, simple and Zwift-ready is the brief, Rivo covers it.

FAQ's

Does the Elite Rivo come with a cassette?
No. The Standard Elite Rivo ships without a cassette, so fit your own 9- to 12-speed Shimano or SRAM road cassette. The Zwift Cog & Click version arrives with a Zwift Cog fitted instead.

What is Zwift Cog & Click on the Elite Rivo?
The Elite Rivo with Zwift Cog & Click comes with a single Zwift Cog fitted in place of a cassette and a Zwift Click handlebar controller. In Zwift you shift through 24 virtual gears, on most 8- to 12-speed bikes, with no derailleur adjustment.

Can I ride apps other than Zwift on the Elite Rivo?
Yes. The Elite Rivo works with Zwift, MyWhoosh, Rouvy, Kinomap and Elite's My E-Training. On the Cog & Click version, swap the Zwift Cog for a 9- to 12-speed cassette to ride other apps with real gears.

Will the Elite Rivo work with my bike computer?
The Elite Rivo connects over Bluetooth, including the FTMS trainer-control standard, and Wi-Fi. Use a head unit, phone, tablet or computer that controls trainers over Bluetooth FTMS, and it can hold two Bluetooth connections at once.

Will the Elite Rivo fit a thru-axle bike?
Yes. The Elite Rivo includes thru-axle 12 x 142 mm and quick-release 5 x 130-135 mm adapters. Elite sells extra adapters for 10 or 12 x 135 mm, Specialized SCS, Boost 12 x 148 mm and Super Boost 12 x 157 mm.

How accurate is the Elite Rivo?
The Elite Rivo estimates power to within plus or minus 2.5%, which is plenty for following structured workouts and riding in Zwift. For measured power at plus or minus 1%, look at the Elite Avanti.

Is the Elite Rivo easy to store?
Yes. The Elite Rivo weighs 10 kg, its legs fold to a 164 mm-wide profile and it has an integrated carry handle, so it tucks into a cupboard or beside the bike between sessions.
