Description

Avanti brings Elite's optical torque sensor and Wi-Fi into a compact, ready-assembled trainer: open the legs, slot the bike on, plug it in. It is the trainer we point most riders to when they want accurate power without stepping up to the size of a Justo 2.

What it is

A direct-drive smart trainer with an electromagnetic brake, a 4 kg flywheel and an OTS optical torque sensor rated to ±1%. It simulates gradients up to 18% and holds up to 2100 W at 40 km/h. Wi-Fi keeps the firmware current by itself, and ANT+ FE-C plus dual-channel Bluetooth FTMS connect it to your app and head unit at the same time.

Who it's for

Riders of every level who want proper training numbers: someone building fitness through a Melbourne winter, a triathlete running structured sessions after dark, or a Zwift regular who wants racing data they can rely on. Choose the Standard version if you already own a cassette or want to ride several apps with real gears. Choose With Zwift Cog & Click if Zwift is home base and you would rather skip buying and fitting a cassette.

Key details

  • Power: OTS optical torque sensor, ±1%; 920 W at 20 km/h, 2100 W at 40 km/h
  • Climbing: up to 18% simulated gradient
  • Standard version: no cassette; the supplied freehub takes Shimano/SRAM 9-, 10- and 11-speed, Shimano 12-speed road and SRAM SX/NX 12-speed
  • Zwift Cog & Click version: Zwift Cog pre-installed and a Zwift Click controller for 24 virtual gears
  • Fits: road, gravel, mountain and city bikes; quick-release 5 x 130-135 mm and thru-axle 12 x 142 mm adapters included
  • Handy touches: an on-board drawer holds the adapters and a disc brake spacer; integrated carry handle
  • Ride feel: black Flex Feet with 4.5° of sway included; red 7° Feet available separately
  • Size: 13 kg; 580 x 210 x 520 mm closed
  • Extras: 12 months of My E-Training, front wheel support, Shimano Di2 pairing

How it compares

Across the Elite trainers we carry, Avanti sits in the middle. It steps up from the Rivo to measured rather than estimated power (±1% against ±2.5%) and adds ANT+. Moving up to the Justo 2 buys <1% accuracy, 24% climbs, a 12-speed cassette in the box and both Flex Feet sets, for 4 kg more trainer.

FAQ's

Does the Elite Avanti come with a cassette?
No. The Standard Elite Avanti ships without a cassette, so fit your own Shimano or SRAM 9- to 12-speed road cassette. The Zwift Cog & Click version arrives with a Zwift Cog already fitted instead.

What is the difference between the Elite Avanti Standard and Zwift Cog & Click versions?
Both are the same Elite Avanti trainer. The Zwift Cog & Click version adds a pre-installed Zwift Cog and a Zwift Click handlebar shifter for 24 virtual gears in Zwift. The Standard version takes a regular cassette.

Can I use other apps with the Elite Avanti Zwift Cog & Click version?
Yes. Remove the Zwift Cog from the Elite Avanti and fit a regular 9- to 12-speed cassette to ride MyWhoosh, Rouvy, Kinomap, TrainerRoad or any app with real gears. Refit the Cog when you go back to Zwift.

Will the Elite Avanti fit my bike's axle?
The Elite Avanti includes quick-release 5 x 130-135 mm and thru-axle 12 x 142 mm adapters. Elite sells adapters for 10 or 12 x 135 mm, Specialized SCS, Boost 12 x 148 mm and Super Boost 12 x 157 mm.

How accurate is the Elite Avanti?
The Elite Avanti measures power directly with an OTS optical torque sensor rated to plus or minus 1%, and calibrates itself automatically, so your numbers stay consistent from one session to the next.

What gradient can the Elite Avanti simulate?
The Elite Avanti simulates climbs up to 18% and resists up to 2100 W at 40 km/h, enough for nearly every climb on Zwift and Rouvy and for flat-out sprint efforts.

Does the Elite Avanti need mains power?
The Elite Avanti runs from its included 100-240 V power supply, which suits Australian mains. Unplugged, it still works in stand-alone mode with a preset resistance level, though app control needs power.
