Description

The Sea to Summit Drylite Towel is a quick-drying microfibre towel with a soft ultra-suede finish, made from 80% recycled polyester and 20% nylon. It comes in four sizes, from the 80 × 40 cm Small at 70 g to the 150 × 75 cm XL at 230 g, and packs into a mesh-faced pouch for camping, swimming and travel.

Who it's for

The Drylite is for people who want a towel that feels soft on the skin and still disappears into a pack. It is a natural fit for a dip in a creek on the Overland Track, a swim at the end of a Larapinta day, a hostel shower on a long trip or a post-surf dry at the beach. In Sea to Summit's towel range it is the medium weight: heavier than the featherweight AirLite and lighter than the terry-finish Tek Towel.

Size and absorbency

  • Small: 80 × 40 cm, 70 g. Face, hands, a sweat towel for the gym or a backup in the daypack.
  • Medium: 100 × 50 cm, 100 g. A full dry-off when every gram counts.
  • Large: 120 × 60 cm, 145 g. Long enough for a proper body towel after a swim.
  • XL: 150 × 75 cm, 230 g. Room to wrap around you at the beach or the campground shower block.

The blend does two jobs: the recycled polyester gives the soft hand-feel, and the nylon soaks up the water. Choose from Beluga, Desert, Moonlight, Sage and Picante.

Drying time and packed size

The Drylite is made to dry fast: hang it from its press-stud loop over a guy line or tent pole and it is soon ready to go back in the pack. Packed into its pouch, the Small is 11 × 11.5 × 2 cm and the XL only 19 × 19.5 × 3 cm. The pouch is mesh-faced to help keep the towel fresh.

Odour and washing

There is no chemical anti-microbial treatment on the Drylite. A towel this easy to wash and dry does not need one: get it fully dry before it goes back in the pouch and it stays fresh. Machine wash with your normal detergent, then line dry or tumble on a cool setting.

Looking after it

Leave out the fabric softener, which significantly reduces absorbency. The dyes are not colourfast, so wash a new Drylite on its own for the first few loads.
