The Deuter Speed Lite Pro 25 is for days you plan to cover ground. Flasks on your chest, snacks on your hips, poles stashed on the shoulder straps in seconds: the pack is built so you never have to break stride.

Who it's for

Fast hikers, peak baggers and anyone who walks at a trail runner's pace. Deuter rate it five out of five for hiking. Picture a one-day push on the Carnarvon Great Walk's highlights, a big day along the Razorback to Mount Feathertop, or the Six Foot Track in a day. The 6-10 kg recommended load covers water, food, a shell and a warm layer for a long day.

Capacity, and what actually fits

25 litres, 54 x 28 x 20 cm. Water rides in soft flask pouches on the shoulder straps and outside the pack, so the main compartment is free for a puffy, a shell, lunch and a first aid kit. A mesh front pocket takes a wet layer, mesh side pockets carry extra bottles, and there is a wet compartment inside.

How it carries

Wide, vest-style perforated shoulder straps spread the load and breathe. Supple hip fins and a lightly elastic 2-way adjustable sternum strap lock the pack close so it does not sway at pace, and stabiliser straps and side compression keep it tight. The LiteAir back uses a skeletal frame structure and a flat reinforced panel for balanced load spread at minimal weight.

Fitting it

One size, made for back lengths of 44-54 cm, which Deuter match to walkers around 170-195 cm tall. With a vest-style harness, fit is about snugness: tighten the hip fins, then the sternum strap, until the pack moves with you rather than against you.

Access and organisation

The main compartment opens on a zip that runs right around it. Zipped pockets on a shoulder strap and a hip fin hold a phone, GPS or bars, and a zipped top pocket keeps your keys on their clip. Quick-release bungee cords on the shoulder straps grab your poles when the track turns to rock.

Weight

680 g for 25 litres with a framed back and full harness. It steps up from the Deuter Speed Lite 21 with 4 extra litres, a load range up to 10 kg, hip fins and vest-style pockets, for 210 g more.

Looking after it

The body is 120D recycled high-tenacity polyamide finished without intentionally added PFAS, and the pack is bluepass and Green Button certified.
