Duffel Pro Pack 30

The Deuter Duffel Pro Pack 30 is a carry-on sized travel pack that opens like a suitcase and carries like a backpack, made from TPU-coated recycled 600D polyester on a stable, water-repellent base. It is built for one-bag travel and the work trip where your laptop comes too.

Who it's for

Travellers who want everything in the cabin. Deuter rate it five out of five for travel, and it works as well on a week of hopping between Sydney and Melbourne meetings as on a fortnight of trains through Japan. Back home it pulls duty as a work bag or a camera day pack.

Capacity and what fits

30 litres, packed well, is a week of clothes in packing cells, a pair of shoes, a toiletry bag and a laptop up to 16 inches in the organiser. The bag measures 49 x 31 x 20 cm and carries a recommended 4-8 kg.

Carrying

Carry it by the padded grab handles or on your back on Deuter's Contact back system, with padded, ergonomically shaped shoulder straps and an adjustable carrying strap. When you are travelling with a wheeled suitcase as well, the pass-through sleeve on the back threads over its pull-out handle so the pack rides on top. The pack suits back lengths of 38-54 cm, roughly 158-195 cm tall.

Organisation inside

The U-shaped front zip opens the main compartment fully, so you pack and unpack it flat like a suitcase. Inside, a zipped mesh compartment keeps socks and chargers apart. The removable organiser takes a laptop up to 16 inches, a tablet and documents, and lifts out whole at airport security. Outside there are zipped top, front and side pockets, a phone pocket and a key clip, and a single padlock anchor point locks all the zips at once.

Durability and weight

The body is 600D recycled polyester with a TPU coating and a water-repellent finish, sitting on a stable, water-repellent base that stands up on a wet station platform. It weighs 1260 g, the cost of a padded harness and a laptop organiser in a bag this tough.

Looking after it

The fabric is bluepass and Green Button certified, finished without intentionally added PFAS.
