AC Lite 25 EL

The Deuter AC Lite 25 EL is a light, well-ventilated 25 litre day pack cut long in the back for tall walkers. If standard packs ride up between your shoulder blades and leave the hip fins sitting on your ribs, the Extra Long fit is the fix.

Who it's for

Tall hikers heading out for a fast day: a dawn start up Mount Barney, a loop through the Grampians, or a steamy summer climb in the Gold Coast hinterland. The recommended load of 3-6 kg covers water, lunch, a shell and a warm layer, and Deuter rate it five out of five for hiking. We stock the EL because a pack that is too short in the back is the single most common fit problem for anyone over 185 cm.

Capacity, and what actually fits

25 litres takes a full day kit with room to spare: a 3 L bladder in the hydration sleeve, a rain jacket and fleece, lunch, a first aid kit and a head torch. The pack measures 56 x 32 x 25 cm. Mesh side pockets hold bottles, and gear loops on the outside take a jacket when the day warms up.

How it carries

The Aircomfort back holds a tensioned mesh panel off your back on a round-profile spring steel frame, so air moves between you and the load on a hot climb. That same frame spreads the weight evenly down to padded hip fins, and a sternum strap adjusts two ways for height. On a humid Queensland morning, the difference is a dry shirt at the top.

Fitting it

The AC Lite 25 EL is one size, built for back lengths of 48-58 cm, which Deuter match to walkers 185-205 cm tall. If you land in the high 40s or 50s and standard packs feel short, this is your pack. Settle the hip fins on your hip bones first, then snug the shoulder straps.

Access and organisation

A central zip runs the full length of the front, so the main compartment opens wide and you can reach the bottom without unpacking the top. A zipper garage tucks the pullers away so the bag cannot open by accident in a crowd or on a bumpy track. A zipped top pocket with a key clip holds keys and a wallet, a side pocket keeps your phone handy, and there is a pole attachment and a glasses stow on the shoulder strap.

Weight

920 g for a framed, ventilated 25 L pack. That is light enough for a quick summit and still carries a proper day load without sagging onto your shoulders.

Looking after it

The body combines 600D recycled polyester and 210D recycled polyamide with a DWR finish made without intentionally added PFAS, and the pack is bluepass and Green Button certified. Deuter back it with a 2-year warranty.
