Description
The Sea to Summit Big River Dry Bag is a heavy-duty roll-top dry bag made from 420 denier nylon bonded to a bright white TPU lining. It has an oval base that sits flat and packs tight, lash loops and D-rings to strap it down, and buckles you can replace yourself in the field. Choose from 5, 8, 13, 20, 35 or 65 litres.
What it keeps dry, and how dry
The Big River body is rated to a 10,000 mm hydrostatic head, with tape-sealed, double-stitched seams and a triple-coated base. Roll the Hypalon top down, clip it, and spray, rain and a wet hull stay outside. It is a roll-top bag built for paddling and riding: keep it above the waterline and it keeps your gear dry.
Capacity and what fits
- 5 L and 8 L: phone, wallet, keys, first aid and a snack within reach.
- 13 L and 20 L: a warm layer, rain jacket and lunch for the day.
- 35 L: spare clothes and a sleeping bag.
- 65 L: the big haul bag for a tent, bedding and camp gear.
Rolled three times, heights run from 32.3 cm for the 5 L to 71.8 cm for the 65 L.
Material and durability
The face fabric is a hefty 420 denier nylon, built to take abrasion. Inside, the white TPU lining lights up the bag so you find things without tipping it out. The fabric is non-PFC with a non-PFAS PU coating, and the 20 mm Field Repair Buckles swap out in seconds with a Phillips screwdriver if one ever breaks.
Packing and carrying
The oval base stops a full bag rolling away and packs neatly against other gear. Lash loops, side lash rails and double D-rings let you stack bags or strap them to watercraft, motorcycles and other equipment, and low-profile grab handles do not snag. For hands-free carrying, the 5 L to 35 L sizes take Sea to Summit's Dry Bag Sling, sold separately.
