FAQ's

What is the search range?
70 metres, which determines how wide your search strips can be and therefore how fast a party can cover an avalanche debris field.

What does automatic switching from search to send do?
If a second avalanche occurs while you are searching, the device reverts to transmitting on its own, so you do not become invisible to other rescuers.

Is it compatible with other brands?
Yes. All recreational avalanche transceivers transmit on the international 457 kHz standard, so different brands find one another.

Do I need anything else with it?
Yes - a probe and a shovel, carried by every member of the party, plus training. A transceiver on its own cannot complete a rescue.

What does the self test do?
The Barryvox 2 continuously checks its own operation while you are on tour, rather than only when you switch it on.

Can I practise with it?
Yes. The Mammut app supports avalanche training as well as updates and configuration, so you can build competence before you need it.
