Backdrop Boonie

The Sunday Afternoons Backdrop Boonie is a UPF 50+ boonie-style sun hat with a 7.5 cm crushable brim and a 19.5 cm neck cape that tucks away when you do not need it. It weighs 113 g, is made from recycled, bluesign-approved polyester with a PFAS-free water-repellent finish, and has an adjustable chinstrap and sizing.

Who it's for

Walkers, paddlers and anglers who want more brim than a bucket hat and the back of the neck covered on long days under the Australian sun, without wearing a legionnaire flap all day. Drop the cape for the exposed midday stretch of the Larapinta or a long paddle on the Noosa Everglades, then stow it when you are back in the shade. The UPF 50+ rating includes the mesh.

Fit and sizing

Two sizes, measured around the crown just above the eyebrows and ears: Medium fits 56-58 cm and Large fits 58-60.5 cm. Adjustable sizing fine-tunes the fit within each, there is an adjustable chinstrap, and a wicking sweatband adds comfort. A Sunglass Lock holds your sunnies when you take them off.
