Nemo Aurora Freestanding Backpacking Tent with Footprint

The Aurora is Nemo's roomy backpacking tent, supplied here with its footprint. It is built for people who would rather carry a little more and sleep in a tent they can sit up and move around in - equally at home car camping.

Who it's for

Campers who want room to sit up, spread out and wait out an afternoon of rain without anybody's knees against the fly. The Aurora carries more interior space than anything near its weight, and it comes with its own footprint in the box - which is a genuine saving and the piece most people forget to buy.

How much room it really has

3.0 sq m of floor in the 2P and 4.1 sq m in the 3P, under vertical sidewalls and big doors that let two people sit side by side rather than end to end. That is the difference between a tent you sleep in and a tent you can spend an evening in.

Weather and season

A 2,000 mm water column on the fly, up from 1,200 mm on the previous generation, with a bluesign approved recycled floor. The whole fabric suite is PFAS-free and free of fire-retardant chemicals - which almost nothing at this price manages.

Pitching it

A lightweight aluminium pole set on a custom forged hub from Nemo's Elements hardware. Overhead Nightlight Pockets diffuse a head torch into a warm room light, and interior gear pockets keep the small things off the floor.

Weight, and what you carry

2.13 kg minimum in the 2P and 2.6 kg in the 3P, packing to 55 x 20 x 10 cm. The Divvy Cube stuff sack is rectangular rather than a tube, so it packs flat and you can pull the poles out and split the load between two people.
