Description
Description
The Sea to Summit Air Mat Repair Kit is a peel-and-stick patch kit made for the surface fabric of Sea to Summit Air Sprung Cell sleeping mats. It weighs 10 g in its packet, which is flat enough to slip into a mat's stuff sack and forget about until the night you need it.
What it fixes
Punctures in the fabric of a Sea to Summit Air Sprung Cell air mat, the kind a stray thorn, burr or sharp rock gives you on a sandy campsite. The adhesive is formulated to bond to that mat fabric, so the patch goes on in the field with no glue tube. The kit is made for Sea to Summit air mats; Sea to Summit makes a separate repair kit for its self-inflating mats.
What's in the packet
- Four 3 cm round patches in grey
- Four 4 cm square patches in grey
- Two replacement silicone one-way valve flaps, spares for Air Sprung Cell mat valves
- An instruction sheet
How to use it
Find the leak first: inflate the mat and listen, or wipe soapy water over the suspect area and watch for bubbles. Dry the fabric completely and wipe off any dirt or sunscreen, then peel a patch big enough to cover the hole with a margin all round and press it down firmly from the centre outwards. Follow the instruction sheet in the packet for the details.
Looking after it
Keep the kit in the mat's stuff sack, where it stays flat and clean. Once a patch is used, swap the kit for a fresh one before the next long trip so you are never down to the last square.
