Description
The Mammut 9.5 Crag Dry Rope Duodess puts two useful things into one 9.5 mm single rope: Mammut's UIAA Dry treatment against water and grit, and a Duodess middle where the sheath pattern changes at the halfway point. We stock it in 60 m and 70 m, in Lavandin-Vibrant Orange and Boa-Vibrant Orange.
Who it's for
Sport climbers who spend most weekends outside. Mammut rates it six out of six for sport climbing and pitches it for sport and trad routes. If your season includes a misty morning at Mount Buffalo, a dusty crag floor at Arapiles or a pack-up in the rain on the way home, the Dry finish earns its place.
Diameter and what it suits
The Crag Dry Duodess is certified as a single rope, so one strand covers lead and top-rope. Mammut describes it as a low-weight, small-diameter rope designed for serious cragging performance.
Handling and impact force
- Impact force: 8 kN
- Stretch on first fall: 30%
- Static elongation: 6%
- Sheath proportion: 40%
Impact force is the peak force recorded in the standard UIAA drop test; a lower figure means a softer catch; static elongation is the stretch under a steady body-weight load, which is what you feel when lowering off.
The Duodess middle
The Duodess construction uses a deliberate pattern change in the sheath at the centre of the rope, which Mammut describes as a durable, always-visible centre mark for belaying and rappelling. The rope arrives packed tangle-free, ready to climb without uncoiling first.
Dry treatment
Mammut's UIAA Dry finish repels water and dirt, and the rope absorbs less than 1.5% water in the UIAA test. Mammut's Dry ropes are built for wet conditions, and the treatment adds abrasion resistance; Mammut says treated ropes last longer. On the Lavandin-Vibrant Orange version the water-repellent treatment is PFC-free.
Fall rating
The 9.5 Crag Dry Rope Duodess holds 8 UIAA falls with an 80 kg mass as a single rope, and conforms to EN 892:2012 + A3:2023.
Length and weight
Every length and colourway weighs 60 g per metre. Choose 60 m or 70 m.
