9.5 Crag Dry Rope

The Mammut 9.5 Crag Dry Rope is a 9.5 mm single rope with Mammut's UIAA Dry treatment, the version of the Crag to take when the forecast is mixed or the rock is gritty. It builds on Mammut's Infinity rope, comes in Blue Ocean, and we stock it in 60 m and 70 m.

Who it's for

Sport climbers first, and anyone heading outside often enough that weather and dirt are part of the deal. Mammut rates it six out of six for sport climbing and pitches it at sport and trad routes alike. Damp mornings in the Blue Mountains, sandy belay ledges at Frog Buttress, a Grampians trip where the showers roll through: this is the rope for those days.

Diameter and what it suits

The 9.5 Crag Dry is certified as a single rope, so one strand covers lead and top-rope. Mammut describes it as a balance of small diameter, low weight and high performance, built on the proven properties of its Infinity rope.

Impact force is the peak force recorded in the standard UIAA drop test; a lower figure means a softer catch. Static elongation is the stretch under a steady 80 kg load, which is what you feel when you are lowered or hang on the rope to work a move.

Dry treatment

This is the reason to choose the Crag Dry. Mammut's UIAA Dry treatment repels water and dirt, and the rope takes up less than 1.5% water in the UIAA absorption test. Mammut's Dry ropes are made for wet conditions, and the finish also gives the rope extra abrasion resistance; Mammut says treated ropes last longer. The treatment is PFC-free.

Fall rating

The 9.5 Crag Dry Rope holds 8 UIAA falls with an 80 kg mass as a single rope, and conforms to EN 892:2012 + A3:2023.

Length and weight

Both lengths weigh 60 g per metre. The rope arrives packed tangle-free, so there is no uncoiling ritual before the first route.
