Description
The Sea to Summit Trash Dry Sack is a 10 L roll-top dry bag made to carry rubbish, built from waterproof 70D nylon with double-stitched, taped seams and a flattened oval base. You line it with an ordinary rubbish bag, roll it shut, and the mess rides home sealed away from your food and your sleeping bag.
What it is
A dedicated rubbish bag for the track. Drop a disposable liner inside, hook its top over the internal retainer strips, then fill it with food wrappers, foil, fruit peel and anything else that has to leave with you. Roll the top three times, clip the buckle, and the non-wicking closure keeps drips on the inside. When you get home, the liner goes in the bin and the dry sack goes back in the gear cupboard.
Who it's for
Anyone who packs it in and packs it out: overnight walkers on the Overland Track, paddlers on a multi-day river trip, bikepackers, climbers spending a day at the crag and families on a weekend at a national park campground. We stock it because a plastic shopping bag stuffed in the lid of a pack is how rubbish ends up leaking over everything else, and how bits of it end up left behind.
If you only ever do short day walks with a sandwich, a spare zip-lock bag will do. Once there are several meals of packaging to carry, this is the tidier answer.
Key details
- 10 L capacity, measured with the roll-top rolled three times.
- 100 g, light enough that it lives in the pack permanently.
- 70D nylon with a waterproof PU coating rated to 10,000 mm hydrostatic head, white on the inside.
- Double-stitched, taped seams and a roll-top closure for drip-free carrying.
- Daisy-chain webbing and hypalon clip loops to lash it onto a pack, clip it to a kayak deck or hang it from a branch.
- Flattened oval base that sits flat against whatever it is strapped to.
Looking after it
Rinse it out with water cooler than 60 °C. Hotter water damages the seam tape that keeps it waterproof. If food or other organic matter has stained it or left a smell, soak it in an enzyme cleaner for outdoor gear, then let it dry fully, inside out, before you pack it away.
