Description
What it is
A neoprene swim cap for open water.
Who it's for
Anyone who has bought the wetsuit and still gets out shaking. Once the rest of you is insulated, your head is where the heat leaves - and it is by far the cheapest part of the problem to fix. A cap costs a fraction of a suit and buys you a surprising amount of extra time in the water.
Key details
Neoprene traps a layer of warmth against your scalp instead of letting cold water pull it away. Pull it on over a silicone race cap or under one, whichever you prefer.
Like all neoprene caps it takes a few swims to mould to your head. It will feel stiffer on day one than it ever does again.
How it compares
A silicone cap keeps hair out of your face and does essentially nothing for warmth. This is thermal equipment - a different piece of kit doing a different job.
