Nemo Double Haul Dual-Purpose Duffel & Tote

The Nemo Double Haul is a tough travel duffel that turns into an open tote in seconds. Unclip the side buckles and the stiffened sides stand the bag upright with the top wide open, so you can load it like a crate. Clip it back up for a tidy duffel, and pull out the backpack straps for the long walk from the ferry.

Who it's for

Travellers and campers who want one bag that does the lot. Pack it for a long weekend in Byron, a week of camping in the Flinders Ranges, or a ski trip to Thredbo with boots, gloves and layers. On a regular week it is the gym bag, the beach bag and the one you load the camp kitchen into.

Capacity and what fits

Four sizes, so pick by the trip rather than the bag:

• 30 L (26 x 51 x 22 cm): a weekend of clothes, or the gym and a change of shoes
• 55 L (34 x 58 x 25 cm): a week of travel clothes, or a sleeping bag and pad for a camp
• 70 L (36 x 65 x 31 cm): snow gear for a ski week, or the family's camp bedding
• 100 L (42 x 72 x 34 cm): bulky kit, a full camp kitchen, or two people's gear for an expedition

Dimensions are length x width x height. Compression straps pull a part-full bag down tight.

Duffel, tote or backpack

Side-release buckles switch the Double Haul between modes. As a duffel it zips into a streamlined shape for travel days; as a tote, the tucked-away handles come out for grab-and-go hauling from the campsite to the beach. For longer carries, the low-profile backpack straps live in their own spot on the bag and come out when the walk from the bus stop to the hostel turns into a kilometre.

Organisation inside

Zippered mesh pockets sit inside and out, for passports, chargers, keys and the small things that sink to the bottom of a big bag. Every Double Haul comes with a matching case that doubles as a packing cube, so socks and smalls stay together.

Durability and weight

The shell is bluesign-approved 420D recycled nylon, water- and stain-resistant, built for years of being thrown in boots, utes and overhead lockers. Nemo design it for longevity and repairability. Empty weights run from 1.26 kg for the 30 L to 1.97 kg for the 100 L, with 1.4 kg for the 55 L and 1.74 kg for the 70 L.
