Nemo Dragonfly Bikepack OSMO Freestanding Tent
Description
Description
The Nemo Dragonfly Bikepack OSMO is a freestanding three-season tent with shortened pole segments so it packs to 37 cm and fits across handlebars or in a frame bag. Minimum weight is 1.07 kg for the one-person and 1.36 kg for the two-person. It shares the standard Dragonfly's floor plan and OSMO fabric.
Who it's for
Bikepackers, and anyone whose packed length matters more than their packed weight. A standard backpacking tent packs to around 50 cm, which is wider than most handlebars once a bar bag and cables are accounted for. At 37 cm this one fits.
Also worth knowing for canoe and packraft trips, where the same constraint applies inside a dry bag. If you are walking rather than riding, the standard Dragonfly is the same tent with normal-length poles and slightly lower weight.
Key features
- Shortened pole segments — packs to 37 cm rather than around 50 cm, which is the difference between fitting on your bars and not.
- Fully freestanding, so it stands on gravel pads, campground hardstand and rock without needing to hold a stake.
- Elements hubbed pole set with the crossbar angled upward before tensioning, and the Precurve system pulling the roof near-horizontal for headroom across the tent rather than just at the peak.
- Two doors and two vestibules on the 2P, 0.9 sq m each — enough for panniers and shoes out of the rain.
- OSMO fabric, 1500 mm fly and 2000 mm floor, PFAS-free and made from recycled yarn.
- Dry bag stuff sack rather than a mesh sack, which matters when the tent is strapped to the outside of a bike in the wet.
Bikepack versus the standard Dragonfly
Same floor area, same peak heights, same fabric, same freestanding structure. The Bikepack trades a little weight — around 20 g — for pole segments short enough to carry on a bike. If you never ride with it, the standard Dragonfly is the better buy. If you do, no amount of saved grams helps a tent that will not mount.
