Description
The Deuter Duffel Pro 40 is the bag for a weekend away or a week of travel with only cabin luggage. A wide arched zip opens the whole top so you can see everything, tough TPU-coated fabric shrugs off rain and grime, and backpack straps get you through the terminal hands-free.
Who it's for
Travellers and weekenders. Deuter rate it five out of five for travel, and it suits a long weekend in Byron, a ski week where your gear goes in the duffel and your boots go on your feet, a dive trip, or a gym and uni bag that takes a beating every day.
Capacity and what fits
40 litres holds clothes for four or five days, a toiletry bag, a pair of shoes and a light jacket. Its recommended load is 4-8 kg, and it measures 22 x 52 x 35 cm, which Deuter size to carry-on dimensions. Airlines set their own cabin limits, so compare the numbers with your airline before you fly.
Carrying it
Two grab handles take it off a luggage belt or out of a car boot. The shoulder straps clip together into a carry handle, or wear them as a backpack for the walk from the station. When you check it or throw it in a ute tray, unclip the straps at the bottom and stow them in their own pocket so nothing snags.
Organisation inside
The round arch zip opens wide for packing, and has a fixed point for a lock. Inside, compression straps hold your clothes flat in transit, and a mesh pocket and key clip keep small things in place. A zipped side pocket keeps shoes or dirty kit apart from everything else.
