Detour Stainless Steel Collapsible Pot

The Sea to Summit Detour Stainless Steel Collapsible Pot is a 5 L camping pot with a 304 stainless steel body that collapses down to 6.9 cm for packing. Its three-ply base works on gas, induction and radiant electric stoves, and two Click Safe handles hold, carry and pour, then reverse to secure the lid for travel.

Who it's for

Five litres is group cooking: a pot of pasta for the whole campsite, a curry that feeds the family after a day on the water, or a big batch of hot water for washing up. At 1131.4 g, the Detour 5L belongs in the camp kitchen box, the canoe barrel or the base-camp setup, where you want real cookware that still packs down small.

It is part of a range that has collected a 2023 Australian Good Design Award and a 2024 Red Dot Best of the Best: proper stainless cookware, designed to fold away.

Heat sources and the three-ply base

The base is a sandwich of stainless steel and aluminium: the aluminium spreads the heat, and the stainless steel takes the knocks. That gives even heat transfer when you are simmering over a camp gas burner, and the same pot goes straight onto an induction cooktop or a radiant electric hotplate at home or in a cabin.

The Detour is made for stoves, not flames. Keep it off the open campfire and cook on your burner instead.

Stability and packed size

Opened up, the 5L measures 37 × 24.7 × 13.7 cm. Push the walls down and it collapses to 27 × 24.7 × 6.9 cm, flat enough to stack in a crate with the rest of the kitchen.

Each Click Safe handle engages the pot with an audible click, so you can lift and pour a full pot with confidence. For travel, reverse the handles over the lid and they secure it, along with any bowls or cups you have nested inside. The handles also swap with Sea to Summit Frontier pots.

Looking after it

Wash it by hand. The handle attachment points are hard anodised and do not go in the dishwasher. The wide, rounded curve where the base meets the walls is shaped to suit Sea to Summit utensils, which makes cleaning simple. All the materials are BPA-free and non-PFAS, and meet EU food-grade standards.
