Nemo Dagger OSMO Freestanding Backpacking Tent
Description
Description
The Nemo Dagger OSMO is a freestanding three-season backpacking tent with a minimum weight of 1.52 kg in the two-person version. It is the roomiest tent in Nemo's ultralight line, with two doors, two 1.1 sq m vestibules and 106 cm of peak height. Made from Nemo's OSMO fabric, which the brand rates at three times less wet stretch than standard nylon.
Who it's for
Two people who would rather carry a couple of hundred extra grams than spend a wet evening with their knees against the fly. The Dagger is the tent in this range that prioritises living space: taller doors, a higher peak, and vestibules big enough to actually cook under in bad weather.
If your priority is the lowest possible carried weight, the Hornet and Dragonfly are both lighter and both give up interior room to get there. If you are camping in genuinely exposed alpine conditions, this is still a three-season tent with a light pole structure.
Key features
- Fully freestanding - stands unstaked, so it works on rock platforms, tent decks and hard ground, and can be moved once it is up.
- The roomiest layout in the range: 106 cm peak height, and vestibules at 1.1 sq m each, against roughly 0.9 sq m on the Dragonfly and 0.7 sq m on the Hornet.
- Updated pole structure - Nemo added 10 cm of door height, 5 cm of peak height and 22% more vestibule space over the previous generation, which is what makes getting in and out in the rain workable.
- OSMO fabric - 100% recycled poly-nylon, PFAS-free and free of fire retardants, rated at four times longer water repellency and three times less wet stretch.
- Two doors and two vestibules, so two people each have their own entry and gear space.
- Divvy Cube stuff sack - rectangular rather than a tube, so it packs flat and the load splits between two people.
Choosing a size
The 2P gives 2.9 sq m of floor at 1.52 kg minimum weight; the 3P gives 4.1 sq m at 1.75 kg. Two people who want room for packs inside, or two people and a dog, are the usual case for sizing up to the 3P — it costs 230 g.
How it compares in the Nemo range
Hornet is the lightest and semi-freestanding. Dragonfly is freestanding and sits in the middle. Dagger is freestanding and the roomiest, and the heaviest of the three. All three use OSMO fabric, so you are choosing between weight and living space rather than between materials.
