Description
Description
The Arva Toolkit is a red roll-up tool pouch packed with the fixes a ski tourer actually needs in the field: a ratcheting screwdriver for bindings, patches for torn skins, duct tape, wax, cord and zip ties. Rolled up it is 15 by 10 by 2 cm and weighs 180 g, so it lives at the bottom of your touring pack all season.
What it is
A complete ski touring repair kit in one zipped roll, ready for the binding screw that backs out on the skin track or the skin that stops sticking halfway up the climb.
Who it's for
Ski tourers and splitboarders heading into the backcountry, where the nearest workshop is hours away. Whether it is a day lap off the Main Range or a hut-to-hut trip in New Zealand, one of these per party turns a trip-ending breakage into a quick fix and a story for the hut.
Key details
- Ratcheting screwdriver with interchangeable bits, for tightening and adjusting bindings
- Two Colltex Quicktex patches to repair climbing skins
- 1 m of 3M cloth duct tape, tough and water resistant, for patching a jacket or holding a broken strap
- Universal wax block, made in France, to keep skins gliding underfoot
- 1.5 m of cord, upcycled from paragliding lines
- Four zip ties, each 250 mm long
Everything sits in its own zipped mesh pocket, so you can see what you have without tipping the pouch out in the snow. It unrolls to 15 by 30 cm and closes with a strap.
Looking after it
Restock after every repair: replace used patches and tape at the end of the trip so the kit is complete next time you need it.
