Dagger Footprint

The Dagger Footprint is Nemo's fitted groundsheet for the Dagger backpacking tent: a tough, waterproof polyester footprint cut to the outline of the tent floor, with webbing at the corners to hold it in place and a mesh bag to carry it in.

What it does

It goes down first and wears out first. A backpacking tent floor is made light so you can carry it, and the ground you camp on does not care: decomposed granite on the Main Range, sandstone shelves in the Grampians, a tent platform with a proud nail head. The footprint takes that grinding so the floor of your Dagger does not.

It also keeps the underside of the tent out of the mud. When you pack up after a wet night the muck is on the footprint, which shakes clean and travels in its own bag, and the tent goes away in far better shape.

The footprint is cut to sit inside the outline of the tent, so there is no spare edge poking out to catch rain and run it under the floor.

Which tents it fits

The Dagger Footprint fits the Nemo Dagger OSMO 2 Person and 3 Person tents we sell. Match the footprint size to the tent size: the 2 Person footprint goes under the Dagger OSMO 2 Person and the 3 Person footprint goes under the Dagger OSMO 3 Person. Each one is shaped to that tent's floor, so the sizes do not swap.

Webbing straps at the corners connect the footprint to the tent, which keeps it square underneath you instead of creeping sideways overnight. Leave it attached and the tent and footprint pitch together next time.

Weight and packed size

The footprint folds flat and comes with a drawstring mesh bag. Mesh lets a damp footprint breathe on the walk out, and keeping it in a separate bag means the dirty layer never gets rolled up inside the clean one.

Looking after it

Flick the grit off before you fold it and let it dry completely at home before you put it away. Take a minute to clear sticks and sharp stones from the site before you pitch; the footprint is for the ones you did not see.
