Description

The USWE Elite is the bladder that fixes the two things people hate about bladders: cleaning them and refilling them. It turns inside out like a sock, and the tube unplugs at the base so the reservoir comes out of the pack on its own.

Who it's for

Mountain bikers, gravel riders, trail runners, fastpackers and enduro and off-road motorcycle riders who drink from a tube. It is the replacement or spare bladder for a USWE pack, and the upgrade when the one you have has gone cloudy. We stock all four sizes so you can match the bladder to the pack and the day.

Capacity and fit

  • 1 L - short, hard efforts and race vests
  • 1.5 L - a couple of hours on the trail
  • 2 L - the all-round size for a half-day ride or run
  • 3 L - long days, hot days and anywhere without a tap, which in a Queensland summer is most places

Check which size your pack's sleeve is built for before you choose; a bladder that is too tall for the sleeve folds and a folded bladder does not drain cleanly.

Drinking and refilling

The Blaster bite valve sits at 45 degrees, so it points at your mouth instead of away from it, and the Hydraflex tube is flexible and does not kink when the pack is cinched down. The slider opening runs the full width of the top: slide it off, fill from a tap, a creek or a jerry can, drop in ice cubes if you want them, fold and slide shut.

Plug-n-Play is the quick connector where the tube meets the bladder. Press to release and the tube stays threaded through your pack while the reservoir goes to the tap. The coupling works with every USWE Plug-n-Play drink tube.

Cleaning and mould

Reach in, grab the bottom and pull it through the opening. With the inside on the outside there is no corner you cannot reach and nothing that stays damp, which is what stops mould getting started. Rinse after each use, dry it reversed, and put it through the dishwasher when it needs a proper clean.

The bladder is TPU with RF welded seams, free of BPA and PVC, and made from FDA and EU approved materials. It is made for USWE by HydraPak.

Additional Information

The best way to keep your bladder in top-notch shape is to clean it with soap and water and let it dry completely after every use. The Shape-Shift and Elite bladders are especially easy to clean because theyre reversible! They are also dishwasher (top-shelf recommended) friendly. The following information is recommended by the manufacturer (Hydrapak). Read the full support thread here.

Cleaning hydration bladder
Reverse by placing your hand in the bladder, grab the bottom, and pull it back through the top opening, just like turning a sock inside-out. The molded opening can also be flipped after the bladder body has been reversed. Then, throw it in the dishwasher or rinse with mild soap and water. Make sure to let the bladder dry out completely while reversed.

Cleaning hose & mouthpiece
All of our components are removable for easy cleaning. Disconnect the drink tube from the bladder. Grasp the bite valve in one hand and tube in the other then pull the valve firmly to remove the bite valve from the tube. Gently remove the silicone sheath from the valve and clean with Bottle Bright or mild soap and water. Clean the inside of the tube by inserting the Hydrapak Tube Brush in the open end of the tube and scrub. After drying the components, carefully reattach the sheath to the valve and re-install.

Bladder has a weird taste
Some users may initially notice a plastic-like taste when using any of our products made with TPU. This taste typically subsides over time and can be eliminated by simply squeezing juice from a lemon into the product, filling it with water, and then freezing it. After frozen, remove, thaw, and rinse.

FAQ's

WHAT IS THE HYDRATION SYSTEMS MADE OF?
Our bladders are made out of TPU (thermoplastic polyurethane) and all of our hydration systems are BPA and PVC free and meet all FDA and EU regulations. Our Hydrapak Elite and Shape-Shift bladders have a No Leak Warranty through Hydrapak. Our recycable bladders are made out of PET/NY/PE and are super durable and leak proof.

HOW DO I OPEN MY NEW BLADDER?
New bladders can be somewhat difficult to open when they are brand new. But rest assured, the bladders will open! The following steps will walk your through the initial process of opening our bladder. After the bladder is open for the first time, it will be much easier to open for the rest of the life of the product.

CAN I HEAT UP MY BLADDER?
The Hydrapak hydration systems are 100% BPA & PVC free and work in a wide range of temperatures. The systems can be frozen and can handle a max temp of 60° C / 140° F

WHAT LUBRICATION DO YOU RECOMMEND FOR THE CONNECTOR? (PLUG & PLAY)
To make the lifetime of your hydration system as long as it could possibly be we recommend lubricating the o-ring before each use. We recommend following Hydrapaks recommendations for lubrication and to not use any other lubricants. Hydrapak recommend using silicone, glycerin, or beeswax-based lubricants applied to the o-ring. Just apply a small smear on the o-ring - a little goes a long way! Do not use petroleum-based lubricants, or olive oil, coconut oil, or any other types of cooking oil as they cause the seal to swell, and will make the system sticky and hard to release.

How do you clean the USWE Elite hydration bladder?
Turn the USWE Elite hydration bladder inside out by pulling the bottom through the slider opening, rinse it, and let it dry reversed. The USWE Elite is also dishwasher safe, so it can go through a wash cycle when it needs a deeper clean.

What sizes does the USWE Elite hydration bladder come in?
The USWE Elite Hydration Bladder With Plug-n-Play Coupling comes in 1 L, 1.5 L, 2 L and 3 L sizes. Match the size to the bladder sleeve in your pack and to how long you will be out between refills.

What is Plug-n-Play on the USWE Elite bladder?
Plug-n-Play is the quick-release coupling where the drink tube joins the USWE Elite bladder. Disconnecting it lets you lift the reservoir out to refill or clean while the tube stays routed through your pack, and it fits all USWE Plug-n-Play tubes.

Can you put ice in the USWE Elite hydration bladder?
Yes. The slider opening on the USWE Elite hydration bladder is wide enough to drop ice cubes straight in, and the TPU reservoir handles ice and cold water. It is a simple way to keep your water cold on a hot day.

Is the USWE Elite hydration bladder BPA free?
Yes. The USWE Elite hydration bladder is free of BPA and PVC, and is made from TPU using FDA and EU approved materials. The USWE Elite is manufactured for USWE by HydraPak.

How do you stop mould growing in the USWE Elite bladder?
Rinse the USWE Elite bladder after every use, turn it inside out and let it dry completely before you store it. Because the USWE Elite reverses fully, the inside surface dries in open air rather than staying damp.
