Step-by-step guide to fitting the backpack
Depending on how your backpack is loaded, the fit of your backpack will be slightly different. Therefore, we recommend carrying out the following steps before every use.
1. Pack your backpack properly
When packing your backpack, make sure that the weight is well distributed so that the load on your back is even.
2. Loosen the straps of your backpack
The first step is to loosen all the straps of your backpack:
- Shoulder straps
- Hip belt
- Chest strap
- If applicable, position adjustment straps (straps on shoulder straps)
3. Position your hip belt
Your hips should carry about 70 to 80 percent of the weight of the backpack, so the correct positioning of the hip belt is particularly relevant:
- Shoulder the backpack and bend forward slightly
- Position the hip belt exactly in the middle of the hip bone
- Fasten the buckle and tighten the strap - this should not constrict your stomach
- To check the proper fit of the backpack on your hips, you can also jump slightly in the air
4. Tighten the shoulder straps
Now, you can tighten the shoulder straps until they carry approx. 20-30 percent of the load of your backpack. The shoulder padding should lie exactly round on the shoulders, now.
5. Tighten the position adjustment straps (ONLY for FR series, PATROL and TRAIL BUILDER)
You can adjust the position of your backpack using the position adjustment straps: If you pull the position adjustment straps forwards, the backpack tilts towards you and is pulled slightly upwards. This raises the shoulder straps slightly.
6. Fasten the chest strap
The chest strap prevents the shoulder straps from slipping sideways. It must be tightened slightly. You can choose the height according to your personal preference.
