For those in search of an ultralight shelter with greater volume, Hornet OSMO offers enviable living space and comfort without sacrificing its airy weight classification. Ranging in capacity from 1P to 3P, Hornet OSMO is made with the ultralight variation of our OSMO™ suite of fabrics, arming it with 3x less wet stretch and a level of water repellency that starts drier and stays drier than the rest. (Even better? OSMO fabrics cut out forever chemicals and extra carbon emissions along with any unnecessary weight.)

Keeping Hornet OSMO extra trim is a minimal pole structure that sets up lightning-quick and pairs with our volumizing Flybar™ and door clips to create generous internal space. Triangulated reflective guy-outs and corner struts also increase volume at the foot and protect sleeping bags from tent wall condensation. An overhead Nightlight Pocket™, Gatekeeper™ one-handed tiebacks, and rectangular Divvy Cube™ stuff sack are new additions that add ease and creature comforts, not ounces. With the new Divvy Cube, this tent packs down small enough to fit in the bottom compartment of your pack — with a sleeping bag!

Both the 3-person and 2-person Hornet OSMO tents have two doors and two vestibules. The 3P weighs under three pounds, the 2P clocks in at only two pounds, and the 1-person is an airy 26 ounces.

  • Premium 10D Nylon Ripstop fly with silicone water repellent is extremely light and durable.
  • Large doors and vestibules provide ample gear coverage for each person.
  • Unique Divvy™ dual stage stuff sackmakes it easy to divide the load with a partner.
  • Patent-pending Flybar™ volumizing pole clip adds more room at the head and distributes fly tension evenly.
  • Volumizing guyouts connect the inner tent to the rainfly, pulling the sidewalls of the inner tent outward to create more livable space.
  • White No-See-Um Mesh at the side increases privacy, while black mesh at the top turns virtually transparent at night for clear stargazing.
  • Triangulated volumizing guyouts and struts at corners increase volume at the foot, protecting sleeping bags from tent wall condensation.
  • Light Pockets™ turn your headlamp into a tent lantern, providing a pleasant, even glow through light-diffusing fabric.
  • DAC Featherlite poles boast minimal weight and connect with a single hubbed intersection for lightning-quick setup.
  • Protected by the NEMO Lifetime Warranty.

1. Do you need a footprint for Nemo Hornet Ultralight?

While all of Nemo’s tents can be used without a footprint, we highly recommend using their purpose-made Nemo Hornet footprint addition with your tent set-up. Doing this reduces the risks of snags and tears in the floor of the tent as well as adding an additional layer of protection against moisture. Using a footprint adds to both the longevity of your tent as well as your comfort.

2. What are the footprint dimensions for Nemo Hornet Ultralight?

The footprint or floor area dimensions for the Nemo Hornet Ultralight are: - 222 x 108/79 cm with a floor area of 2.1 SQM for the one-person tent - 215 x 130/108 with a floor area of 2.6 SQM for their two-person tent

3. Is Nemo Hornet Ultralight waterproof?

Made using a premium 10D Nylon Ripstop fly that has a silicone water repellent, the Nemo Hornet is both lightweight and waterproof.

4. Does the Nemo Hornet Ultralight tent have a lifetime warranty?

Yes! Just as with all Nemo products, Nemo Hornet Ultralight tents have a lifetime warranty that covers any defects in product manufacturing that affects usage. The warranty does not cover general wear and tear, improper use or maintenance, misuse or neglect. Should you need to make a warranty claim, Nemo has a reputation for managing these quickly and efficiently.

5. Hornet vs Hornet Elite: What's the difference?

Both the Hornet and the Hornet Elite are exceptional tents for those seeking a lightweight option, the main differences between them (as based on the two-person tent) are as follows:

Weight - The Hornet Elite is the lighter of the two. The packed weight of the Hornet is 1.08kg compared to just 935 grams for the Elite.

Durability - The Elite has a lesser denier material than the Hornet making it less dense and therefore less durable. Both tents are equally waterproof, but the thinner fabric of the Elite as well as its higher mesh ratio means it cannot perform as well as the Hornet in wind and rain.

Waterproofing - While the fly fabrics of both tents are equally waterproof, the density of the Hornets fabric still means it will perform better in wet conditions.

As mentioned in an earlier FAQ, neither tent comes with a footprint - this is purchased separately but greatly contributes to better waterproofing.

Dimensions - The Hornet offers slightly more height and floor space than the Elite. The Hornet delivers 2.6 SQM of floor space whereas the Dragonfly offers 2.5 SQM of floor space.

Nemo Hornet

Very happy with my purchase. Would only recommend as a 1P tent with room to store backpack inside.

Great 1P lightweight tent

I've only used the tent a couple of times so far, but I really like it. It's lightweight, easy to set-up and performs as expected. Only downside in my opinion is the rain fly being too short, which means the gear stored in the vestibule my get a bit wet when it rains for a while. Also I'll definitely purchase a groundsheet to make sure the tent lasts longer

Memo- Hornet 2 person tent.

Ultralight as promised. I added two additional pegs to help stabilise in windy conditions. Easy to clean and wipe off moisture when packing up in mornings. Zips caught protective flaps several times but to be fair this has occurred with every tent I’ve owned. Waterproof in ‘normal’ rain. Only damp with mist settling inside tent overnight.
